They have been down all day for "unscheduled maintenance". :gonk: At first we could read ReefKeeping but now everything is down. :(

I guess they were updating the database software. I was surprised they were actually doing their upgrades considering the site said "unscheduled maintenance", I was under the impression they were forced to do some other sort of maintenance task.

Huge updates over there today. The forums have been down most of the morning and recently came back online. They switched from 5 servers to 1 "super server". Should be very interesting to see how it all plays out!

Yeah, they are using the latest version of vbulletin too. Hopefully it will work well for them, I would be somewhat concerned though. Just because it's a new version doesn't mean it can handle that number of users that much better. Most of the big forums I've seen using vbulletin still run heavily modified versions to fit their needs rather than the latest version.

EDIT: I hope it means they don't have to turn off their forums at night for backups. I can't tell you how many detailed posts I've lost because it went into backup mode between the time I hit reply and submit.
